Is Drop Shipping Products a Legitimate potential to Make Money Online?

Is Drop Shipping Products a Legitimate potential to Make Money Online?

Internet retail sales are forecasted to increase to over $245 Billion annually by 2014.

If you choose to select this venue to earn income, internet retail sales could be your answer. Let’s suppose you choose this venue for income and decide this is the way to go and you want to sell Widgets. So you go out and buy 1,000 widgets and stock them in your garage. You expect to sell 1,000 Widgets your first month. Let’s say each widget costs you .50 cents, shipping to you is .25 cents. So far you owe .75 cents X 1,000 or $750.00 you had to prepay.

So you already have your website which is hosted by Google or Yahoo, and the domain is paid for, and you list your widget on your website. Let’s say the annual cost of the prepaid website and template is $120 annually or $12 per month.

So your first month of selling widgets, you decide to list them on your website for $2.00 each shipping included and you have the first month expense of $762.00 (overhead).

Then you get your first order for 10 Widgets. So you earned $20.00 gross income and shipping the 10 Widgets costs $2.00 (.20 cents each bulk lot instead of .25 cents each). So your second order, 3 days later comes in for 990 Widgets at $2.00 each. So your gross income is $1,980.00 and the shipping is $198.00 for the lot (.20 cents each bulk lot instead of .25 cents each).

So, we started out at a monthly gross income on the Widgets at $2,000.00 less your shipping costs to your buyers of $200.00 less your cost of the 1,000 Widgets of $750.00 less your overhead of $12 per month.

So your net profit is $1,038.00 for the month. Not too bad right? Well, let’s say you had to spend 160 hours during the month finding your supplier, ordering Widgets, stocking them in your garage, posting them to your website, answering orders, processing and then packaging them for mailing, and going to and from the post office. (We will assume you already had the other costs prepaid – computer, internet, packing supplies, auto, gas, insurance, etc.). So a net profit of $1.038.00 divided by 160 hours equals you got paid $6.49 per hour of your time.

DROP SHIPPING. Using the above example, let’s suppose you are browsing the internet and you find a drop shipper that will sell you each Widget for .25 cents each and will ship for you for .25 cents each(cost passed on to consumer), so your total costs are .25 cents per Widget before overhead.

Now let’s say the drop shipper offers you a prepaid domain, website template, and up to 1 million products listed on your website. They handle all the inventory, shipping, updating the website, etc. Let’s say the costs are a one-time fee of $149.00 and a monthly hosting fee of $29.99 or for the first 12 months $42.41 per month (overhead) in the first year, then $29.99 per month.

So on the drop ship plan you sold 1,000 Widgets at $2.00 each or $2,000 Gross Income less your cost to the drop shipper of $250 for the 1,000 Widgets and less your monthly overhead of $42.41 equals a net income of $1707.59.

Now, let’s suppose you it took you 60 of your time for the month to monitor the website, change the template, track orders, etc. So $1707.59 divided by 60 equals $28.46 per hour income to you for your time.

So had you rather work for $6.49 per hour or $28.46 per hour?

In the next article, I will address the tips to pick the exact drop shipper, and what to watch out for that can go wrong.

STARTING WITH ADVERTISING ON YOUR WEBSITE OR WEBSTORE

STARTING WITH ADVERTISING ON YOUR WEBSITE OR WEBSTORE

I am still learning this advertising area. I am less than one year into this, and after all the scams out there to get this going, I decided to do it my myself - live and learn method. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good articles there to read. But also a lot of them redirect you to the blogger website to sell you something else to help you get going.

In 2010, Internet retail sales were over $400 Billion in revenue. I have tracked a few of the more recent sites I like, but as they get bigger, they seem to grow a lot on their pricing. Buying on the Internet will become the way of the future. The way to effectively promote your products through advertising is the question.

Why is buying on the Internet the future. Well, look it objectively. Lets say I need a new computer printer. Several retailers carry them locally. Well, generally, the Internet sales price is at or below the retailer. So I order and pay shipping. Well, if I get into my car, go to the retailer, buy the time I pay sales tax, I have paid more for the product, than on the Internet. You have to factor in product price, sales tax, GAS prices, and time.

So I have learned a lot on the Google AdWords advertising which I have set a daily budget and spend out of my pocket (this article is not an ad for Google). I like the product, it reaches a vast audience, and it is pay as you go. The best thing is Google gives you free live support phone help on your ads, and the average wait time is 2-5 minutes tops.

The biggest issue I can tell a beginner on AdWords is you have the option to set automatic bidding for your ad placement, or manual bidding. On manual bidding, your control panel will tell you what the average bid is too get your ad on the first page of the results of a search.

On automatic bidding, Google will take the dollar amount of maximum per ad budget you set, and find somewhere to place the ad, and you will get clicks. So this is by far cheaper, and works.

For instance, lets say I am selling an HDTV. I set the ad on manual bidding and I look at the Google control panel to see what the first page bid is and it is $1.25 to get your ad on the first page of the search results. That is expensive to get a click and maybe not a sell.

If I set it to automatic bidding, say with a cap of $0.30 per ad, then at some point the ad will appear elsewhere, or at a different time. If I get a click, it is $0.30 instead of $1.25. If you are selling 1 product, the manual bidding maybe better, or in my case, I am selling multiple products, so automatic is better for me, because I am trying to drive traffic to the entire web store to look around.

So, onward we go. If you have a few minutes, please go to my webstore and give me some honest input on the good, bad, ugly, and what I should change. Thanks, John

Make Money From Home Online and Advertising

Make Money From Home Online and Advertising

Well, I suppose I am at phase 2 of understanding the Internet. I suppose. I recently signed up for Google pay per click advertising. I am actually liking it, although perhaps a little expensive, that decision is still out. It is nice to increase your bid, to have your search term appear above Sears, Target, whomever.

So my endeavors started by researching, multiple companies, multiple drop ship companies, that is to be exact. I did not want to buy or rent a warehouse, to store everything under the sun.

My best estimate was to pick  a drop shipper that with my mark up was still better than the best price on E-Bay, the world recognized retailer.

After months of research, I was satisfied I found one and subscribed. Based on my research, the best bet is still to pray you did not pick the wrong one or get scammed. In my opinion, if one-half these schemers spent 1/4 the time working, they would make more money.

So me, being Internet stupid, not savvy, went to work. I am still updating my findings on this blog. I found out it is not as easy as it looks, however, I am determined to find the right combination of factors.

Ideally, I want you to log onto my retail store, find the product, and have it sent to you via shipping cheaper than you can spend the gas to go buy it and get it. Yes, it will take 3-5 days, but your gas tank will not be empty.

So in my opinion, I think the google advertising, being the number 1 search engine, is probably worth the investment.

What I would like to do is help people avoid the disastrous - what I call idiot maneuvers, like I did. See my first blog for my major admitted embarrassment.

I am like you, not knowing what I am doing, finding my way, But I will not go broke due to schemers.

Schemer - lets get a real good definition. I.E., I had an automobile for sale in January. I listed it several places including Craig's List locally. Well, low and behold, I get an email offering to buy the vehicle at the requested price. Of course, I said sure.

Well, the next email explains, it has to be a Pay Pal transaction (I have a Pay Pal account), and all I have to do is Pay Pal wire the funds for his guy to come pick it up. He wanted $1,000 to have his guy come pick it up, and the guy would bring my certified check to buy the vehicle. MMM. oh well, MMM. He had all kind of Pay Pal verification symbols on his emails.

Well, my Banana boat is slow, but when it comes to $1k, gets a speed boat infusion. So I decided to mess with him, on and on.

So, long story short, in the end I got enough emails from him, his address, his IP,  to report him to the Federal Internet Crimes Commission (ICC) and Pay Pal.

I want every body to make money legally on the net, I do believe that my website is good, granted it takes a lot of digging, but I think the prices are good.

How Do You Seperate The Online Scams From Legitimate Ones

How Do You Seperate The Online Scams From Legitimate Ones

Are you tired of being scammed on the Internet by people selling make money online or from home? How do you separate the good from the bad? Well, if you are like me, you got took a time or two before I figured it out.

Here are the most helpful steps to get you started:

1. Figure out exactly what you want or sell.

2. When you discover what you want to sell (or think you want to sell), research the website    thoroughly, and check it out. The easiest way I have found to do this is to type in your search engine the name of the company or website URL then type in legit or scam.

3. Read the reports carefully with a reasonable open mind. If you find negative reports, look for the frequency, and how many recent posts. Don't forget there a "haters" out there, not knowing what they are doing, think 1 million dollars should fall in their lap, and when they fail, the blame the site they spent money on as the culprit. The last time I checked my bank account, 1 million dollars did not fly in it.

4. If you find a deal like I did that offers a reasonable product(s), at a reasonable fee, then look for comparisons through your search engine.

5. I chose a drop ship company, that generates your own personalized website that sells over 1 million products. They handle, shipping, inventory, web site updates. I sit at home, work on ads, selling, running the business, not running to the post office to ship.

6. HAVE AN ADVERTISING PLAN IN PLACE FROM DAY ONE. I use Google AdWords and AdSense. With AdWords, you can pay a small pay per click fee. On my website, I installed Adsense, which allows Google to place ads on all of my pages, and each time someone clicks on Google's ad, I get paid. So they offset each other tremendously, and I am not paying huge advertising bills. Google has a $75.00 coupon to start your advertising plan.

7. Do not purchase the Search Engine Optimization Plans, insert a free site map, so your pages get indexed on the web. Keep in mind it takes a few days to get your site indexed and showing before you will see it.

8. Do not purchase the keyword ebooks, or ideas, follow the set up on Google, they do all the keyword tracking for you.

9. Insert a website tracker for free, that allows you to see a lot of information, like location, date, time, how long they visited your website, what pages they looked at, a wealth of information which will help you target your audience.

10. Be conservative, look for the cheapest way to set all of this up. I do not recommend email campaigns until you are making money.

The biggest warning I can give you is be very careful. For instance, when you find an product website you are interested in, be sure all of the terms are explained up front, not after you buy and sign up.

Here is my idiot blog on me. The first website I purchased is a flat fraud. They did not tell me the product was until I bought the rights to the website. Then come the upgrade charges. So I now proudly own 11 e-books with eleven domains, that in 9 months, have not sold 1 - not one. The plan includes indexing your e-books with the domain, and when I type in my URL, I have only found it once or twice through all of the major search engines. They have a website tracker that shows how many visits you get each day at your ebook site. It is a fraud, if I can't find it on Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc., how is anybody else going to see it? Stay away from this site: http://www.homewebsitecenter.com/ You can click on the link, just do not sign up.

If you look at the home page, what are you selling? Oh well, live and learn.

On to more positive endeavors. Here is my website, I now run:
http://www.johnsgeneralstoreonline.com/Store/home.asp

You can purchase the rights to the store for as low as $149.99 investment here:

Here is the web tracker I use for free:

Here is the link to Google AdWord (75.00 Coupon):

Here is the link to Google AdSense:
http://www.google.com/intl/en/adsense/start/yourspace/index.html

Above are all of the links you need to start your own home online business. Again, common sense prevails. Google did not get as big as it is by cheating people. Above is a website, advertising, and selling campaign, and a free tracker to monitor your performance. It is that simple. Do not buy anything else. Maybe I should write and E-Book on what not to do online, and post it on my e-book website. Maybe I could make a dollar then.
